Removing Moles Just Got Easier.
Moles are scientifically known as Nevus or nevi. These are damaged cells that get collected at one spot, forming a small circular structure on the surface of the skin. They are often highly pigmented due to the excess content of melanin in these cells.
These moles are very common since almost everyone has them on their bodies. Some cells tend to appear even before birth, they are commonly known as birthmarks. While other times the moles can occur after adolescence. Some moles change their colors over the years, and others will just disappear. Although, some moles may not change at all.
10 to 40 moles is a median count of moles one could have in their entire life span. Moles are not only of dark brown color, but also of pink, red, and neutral colors. Sometimes a few hairs tend to grow on these moles. These moles are capable of appearing alone or in groups
Even though rare, the moles can be malignant in nature or could have a clinical disorder related to them.
To know moles more deeply, we might have to break them down into different types. This will help us understand them better. This will also help to get a better knowledge of which kind is safe and which is not.
How To Diagnose The Moles:
Moles are almost the simplest to diagnose since they are completely visible to the naked eye. If at times they are neutral, they can be detected with the help of dermatoscopy. Multiple types of imaging tests are available to diagnose the moles that are not easily visible to the eye.
Not only is the mole diagnosed but also can be classified into its type. These imaging tests can also determine the type of mole it is. Most of the moles are benign, but sometimes these moles can also turn out to be cancerous.
To determine various problems with the moles, the doctor might conduct a biopsy of the mole. A biopsy is a process where a sample of the mole is taken from your skin and examined under a microscope. One such biopsy is known as the histopathological examinations, this helps in detecting unique cellular features, that might cause a problem to the skin or health.
ABCDE is one of the main criterions to determine whether the mole is benign or not. It stands for, asymmetry, border irregularity, color variegations, diameter>6 and evolution. This criterion helps to differentiate melanomas from normal moles.
Lesions in children have a criterion with the same abbreviation but have a different meaning. Here ABCDE stands for amelanosis, bleeding or bumps, ununiform color, small diameter, and evolution.
Types Of Moles:
Moles are of different type, and their occurrence is for various reasons. Here are classifications to determine these types:
- Congenital Moles: this type of mole mostly occurs before birth. 1 out of 100 babies is born with it according to the American Osteopathic College Of Dermatology. These types of moles appear to be flat and have many different colors. The congenital moles are often known to be benign.
- Atypical moles: This type of mole has a higher risk of being malignant. These moles are slightly bigger compared to other types. They also have irregular borders. Even though a have a darker color, they tend to differ in shades. At least 1 out of 10 moles on your skin is an atypical mole.
- Acquired moles: Acquiring means to gain a property after birth. They often occur due to sun damage, therefore have a darker color, due to the increase in melanin in the cells. They also tend to darken with time. These moles only occur after adolescence and are round in shape. Except for their color, they rarely have a history of any changes.
Why Should You Get Your Mole Removed?
A lot of people have moles that are very big. These moles could lower their self-esteem, and sometimes even look unappealing. At times, moles might also be very uncomfortable, as they rub against their clothes or their accessories. Other times, they could be itchy, inflamed or even bleeding. The only way one can prevent these things is by getting rid of th3em permanently.
How To Remove Moles:
Doctors are better judges of any conditions of our body. Hence it is suggested that if you suspect your mole to be abnormal then you should get them checked with your physician. There are doctors such as pediatricians, plastic surgeons, and dermatologists that can help you with the removal of moles. A doctor’s help is suggested for the removal as they have a better knowledge of the moles, s well as the practice to remove them without causing any harm to you.
There are different ways they might use to get rid of the moles, such as:
- Freezing- Extreme cold is used to dry the moles, and then they are removed.
- Surgical removal- A razor is first sterilized and then the mole is shaved out with it.
Before going through any painful procedures the doctors will first do a biopsy, and then anesthetize the area of the removal.
What Not To Do:
You could also be tempted to remove these moles all by yourself at home, as it is more convenient compared to a doctor. There are hacks such as burning them, freezing them, even shaving them off with a razor. Although convenient, these methods should not be tried at home. They could affect your skin and even cause infections.
Natural Home Remedies:
You could rather use natural ingredients to get rid of these tags. They do take more time compared to other methods but are more effective and safe. Since they are natural, they have a lower risk of side effects and do not cause infections. They could be easily available to you from your kitchen or the nearest store or pharmacy.
The procedure is simple. You first apply the ingredient on the mole and leave it for 15 to 20 mins. Then wash off the ingredient or leave it overnight, depending upon the concentration of the ingredient. The mole will disappear in two to three weeks if the routine is followed regularly. This will help to remove the hyperpigmentation of the cells as well as disperse the accumulated cells.
The ingredients are:
- Apple cider vinegar
- Combination of baking soda and castor oil.
- A garlic clove.
- Banana peel.
- Lemon extracts.
- Teat tree oil.
All these ingredients have astringent properties, that will help to dry out the mole and remove it.
